The Response is a fusion dance event focusing on the skill of following applied to both leading and following. It will take place in Lyon May 8th to 10th. Registration opens January the 17th.
Why a follow-focused event?
The Response was created because:
- Experienced followers excel at leading:
- Most followers with experience can quickly become competent leaders, while leaders often struggle to learn following.
- Experienced followers often have a comfortable and responsive lead, which followers love!
- This shows that following is crucial for all dancers, as it unlocks adaptability, balance, and co-creation.
- A teaching gap exists:
- Most dance classes are taught from a leading perspective, with instructions geared toward leads.
- Very little attention is given to teaching followers.
The point?
- Teaching both leaders and followers the skill of following.
- Create a learning environment specifically designed to teach following.
How will it work?
The Response will be structured like most dance events but all the meals will be provided!
We’ll have dinner and parties on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights at our beautiful venue. On Saturday and Sunday we’ll have brunch followed by classes.

What’s the vibe?
The Response aims to be a platonic event where we come to dance with everyone to have fun and create community. Emphasis will be put on having a great intimate cosy time and working on those following skills regardless of gender and preferred role. We are here to celebrate and appreciate our followers. 
The Response will be a cosy event held in venues in Lyon, all within a 10-minute walk.
