This event is organized by Ouardane & Emilie

Ouardane / Dane
They’ve started dancing with salsa, and became a dance organizer only a year after starting dancing. They then branched out to many other dances and are very attached to fusion. They’ve been an organizer for years, starting with student life of their university, including the local salsa classes. They’ve helped run Yale Swing, Blues and Fusion, as well as organize the attached exchange ECX, and more recently, have been developing the Lyon fusion scene and co-organizing the 1st micro fusion festival in Europe, European Micro Fantasia.
They like fostering spaces where people can freely be their best selves. They put a particular attention on safety and have created the website saferdance.com. They want to keep pushing the envelope of what fusion is and can be!
Emilie
Emilie has always danced and sung, as far as they can remember.
Their journey with partner dancing began almost 20 years ago, when they landed by chance in one of the biggest french bal folk festival of the time. They instantly fell in love with these dances, deeply moved by the feeling of community and connection they brought. Their path lead them later to explore contemporary dance, forró, and then fusion.
As a dance organizer they initiated Queerfolk, the 1st Lyon queer bal folk scene in 2023, and Switch!, a queer feminist event mixing several social dances in 2024. Their goal : to foster safer, joyful, more queer and inclusive social dance scenes (and change the world of course, but let’s begin with dancing 🙂
They are really excited to co-create this first follow-focused fusion event, and to contribute to highlight the power and importance of following skills in social dance!
